Metro Vancouver - Annacis Island WWTP Contract A505

The AIWWTP A505 project was a significant upgrade to the influent capacity of one of Canada’s largest wastewater treatment facilities. It included the addition of a custom build 1200hp lift pump with VFD control, influent channel remediation and expansion, and a massive bar screen capable of handling 500MLD.
As the Commissioning Manager, we managed and executed all aspects of start-up and commissioning of the project including custom built equipment, multiple point vibration testing, and power monitoring. Working closely with vendors we participated in all aspects of the install to ensure nothing was missed prior to initial start up. Specific coordination was required with the facility operations group as the installation did not allow for testing with water prior to being put into service. This equipment was put directly into service and testing was completed successfully with live process. This project is a great example of how well-defined testing execution can have a major impact on the positive operation of a facility without the general public even knowing that such a success happened.
